Update and thanks

I just heard from my sister-in-law and the latest word on my nephew is good. It turned out that although he has a bad staph infection, it is not the drug-resistant strain. They have been able to take him off the morphine pain pump and he should be able to go home on Monday. He will still have to spend a couple of weeks with a pump to drain the wound as it heals, but at least he will be healing.
