Did you know ... ?

White Penstemon, White Beardtongue, Penstemon albidus
White Penstemon is the most widespread penstemon or beardtongue in the Great Plains. The insides of the blossoms are bearded and often spotted with purple.

Okay, I ran across this while looking up more information about Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota.

And why was I looking up Wind Cave National Park, you may well ask?

It is the featured photo on the Bing homepage today because it is celebrating its 111th anniversary as a national park. It was the eight one and I am embarrassed to say that I had never heard of it.

By the way, aren't you a little curious now about the other penstemons and beardtongues in the Great Plains? One occupational hazard for librarians and writers is that we start looking up one thing and get distracted by all the other things that pop up ...
