Pogo was one of my favorite comic strips when I was a kid and into my teen years. He comes to mind this time of the year because the hard winter days bring a possum or two to forage around under the bird feeder. One has been here the last couple of days, which is about what I would expect given the bitter cold that is in the process of sweeping down upon us.So although it is a bit past the Christmas season, the possum season is clearly still upon us. So let's all join in a rousing chorus of that immortal Walt Kelly ditty, "Deck Us All with Boston Charlie":
And let us never forget, that although the most famous Pogo quote is, "We have met the enemy and he is us," he also said, "We are confronted with insurmountable opportunities."
