On November 1, some Christians celebrate a feast in honor of all the holy ones who have gone before us into the Mystery beyond death. By "holy ones" they do not mean those who are officially called saints by the church, but those whom God has made holy, known or unknown.David Erb, a Presbyterian minister friend of mine, told me once that he preached only one sermon for funerals. Basing himself on John 14:2, David said, "We know nothing about what lies beyond death except what the only person who ever went there and came back has told us -- in our Father's house, there is lots of room."
I guess there is a lesson there for all of us.
