John of the Cross: Ubeda

In the friars' chapel at Ubeda, where they have a wonderful museum honoring John of the Cross, there is a sculpture that represents a sort of catafalque on which lies the body of John of the Cross laid out in death. I was more moved by that simple representation than by anything else connected to the saint that we saw in Spain.

Although I don't know him too well, he is one of my favorites. I should learn more about him. I sense I would find him a great comfort. I sometimes feel I am being intrusive asking the 'big saints' for their interventions - as if they were busy or had enough on their plate.
