Windy days and Mondays

No rain today but lots of wind this morning. It was howling around the house when I descended to the basement office to work on the book. The word count this evening as I put that project to bed is 58,811. I am about 60% of the way through the text with editing, additions and all that jazz.

In addition to that, I spent more time than I care to think about changing passwords on various accounts today due to a security breach at Adobe.

Not to get all Luddite, but sometimes ...

I DETEST having to change my passwords. Especially at work. They gave me a password that I could associate something with...every single bit of it . Then I found out they make you change half of them every 3 months.... and you cant re-use a password youve used the last 10 changes.
TEN!!!!!! I think with everything I need a password for my count is up to 17 seperate personal passwords. That's not counting the ones I have used and am using at work at the moment. The IT guy there gave me a great idea tho- he said for those at work to choose one password that has an upper case letter and the rest lowercase letters and then use the number starting from a multiple of 10 and going up one everytime to whatever-9....then I can start back over with the first one!! BRILLIANT!!!!
This morning we had Black ice instead of the snow they was calling for. I think I would have prefered the snow.
Funny thing tho- the past couple of weeks we've had the heat on timer for an hour before we get up- and an hour before we get in from work. It's been coming on right on time and been BLAZING when we got up and when we walked in......til this morning. 27 degrees outside & the heating decided to NOT come on this morning due to low water pressure in the boiler. Of ALL mornings!!!!
BRRRRRRRR.....The wind has been HOWLING here this week too.
:-)

Changing passwords is a bummer. I have a list that I keep with my will and other such papers. But since I have to keep changing them, the list is looking pretty tattered. There are programs for the computer to keep track of them, but sometimes a sheet of paper is easier for me.

I set up some of the accounts to force me to change the password every few months. It is a pain when you can't use one you have used in the past, but I understand the security concern. I like to use the names of obscure historical figures, fiddle with the upper/lower case thing and then throw in numerals or symbols that remind me of letters. And I have taken to using longer and longer passwords.

Ditto on the paper copy. And ditto on the longer and longer passwords.
