Sunday morning bird notes

This morning I saw a pair of wrens going in and out of the birdhouse, building a nest. Rich and Peggy had told me that wrens would probably move in, and they were right. Cute little things! The wrens, that is.

A male oriole was on the deck early this morning, too, but it flew away before Tom could get his good camera set up to take a picture. Maybe eventually ...

Finally, I saw the first hummingbird of the season at the lilacs out front. The trumpet vines are leafing out in the back, and that is usually where the hummingbird action is.

On a weather note, the wind has been blustery this morning and we expect thunderstorms to move through in waves today. Tom has gone over to the railroad so that he and John can do some more preparation for the track work that will begin tomorrow. The cats and I are holding down the fort.
