Tom started the antibiotic last night. His fever seems to have broken and he was up and about all day. He made himself a pot of chicken vegetable soup, as per the orders of his doctor and has been drinking lots of water. He walked over to the neighbors for a brief visit, despite the rain. That gave me a chance to vacuum, something I had not been able to do since last Friday because the noise bothered him.
This is not over, of course, but things are looking much better at the moment. Thanks to all of you who commented or emailed to express support.

I've fallen behind on my reading the past few days and you've been busy. So glad he's showing clear signs of improvement. That's all very scary. I had Lyme Disease in 1990. It's frightening what a little tick can do. Hope he continues to improve -- quickly -- and that all is well.
Thanks, Mitchell. Things seem to be going in the right direction.
I hope he has a speedy recovery
I have just Read The saga of Tom's Fever...... the smallest things seem to make us the sickest. Question- has anyone thought to actually look for a tick? Prayers for a speedy recovery.
The tick apparently had detached itself, but he has lots of bites. These do not have the distinctive target-look that you get with Lymes.
