Cell phone

I mentioned a few days ago that I was having a bit of trouble with the billing for my cell phone. I have US Cellular and have been satisfied until this imbroglio.

I have been keeping an eye on it since then, and I am not convinced the problem is resolved. I received a paper bill by mail, which I always do, telling me that I am on autopay and do not need to do anything. In the past, every month I always received in addition to this, an email telling me the bill was due, followed shortly by an email telling me payment had been scheduled and then one assuring me that payment had been made. This always happened BEFORE the paper bill arrived. This time -- no emails. Also, no indication on my credit card (to which the account is tied) that any payment has been issued yet nor is a payment pending.

When I go to my US Cellular account page to try to schedule a payment, they tell me that if I do so at this time, the result may be the cancellation of my service because it will be paid before a payment is due.

What?

I have a bill in hand telling me payment is due and reassuring me that it is being taken care of by autopay but there is no evidence on my cell phone account page or my credit card account page that this is in fact the case. And they are going to cancel my service because I pay early?

I will wait another 24 hours before going back to the store to see what the problem is now. I may wind up having to cancel US Cellular and start over from scratch.

Merry Christmas!
