Veterans Day and "The Strangest Dream"

For my father, Byron,
my uncles, Ray, Buddy, Nolan, George and L.P.,
my brother, Ted,
my husband, Tom,
my friend, Lee,
my friend, Ralph,
and so many others who served:
Thank you.

May the day come when war and fear, hatred and oppression are fading memories.
May each of us help hasten that day by the choices we make each day until it dawns.

Last night I had the strangest dream
I never dreamed before.
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war.

I dreamed I saw a mighty room
Filled with women and men,
And the paper they were signing said
They'd never fight again.

And when the papers were all signed
And a million copies made,
They all joined hands and bowed their heads
And grateful prayers were prayed.

And the people in the streets below
Were dancing round and round,
And swords and guns and uniforms
Were scattered on the ground.

Last night I had the strangest dream
I never dreamed before.
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war.

I'm not sure why- but that poem brought me to tears.
Thank you to all those who served our country to preserve or freedoms.
