It's January. It's 7 degrees in Madison, feeling like -5 degrees, with light snow (I checked). You, Tom and the cats are housebound with prospect of being so for several days (if the weather forecast is to be trusted). No wonder there is little or nothing fresh to write.
But I don't think you have ever told us (at least not recently) how you and Tom met.If you are bored and bold enough, that could be a topic.
