Housekeeping 101

There is a row of six round light bulbs above the large mirror over the lavatory counter in my bathroom. We have lived here over nine years now, and I think I may have dusted at them (notice I said "dusted at") once or twice. For reasons unknown, today I was inspired to take the bulbs down and wash them carefully before drying and putting them back.

Here is what I learned:

You, like me, probably think you keep your bathroom clean. To maintain this illusion, do not under any circumstances wash the light bulbs in the bathroom.

You will be shocked at what you see.

And I'm not just talking about the reflection in that big mirror ...
