The Song That Never Ends: DANGER ALERT -- Earworm ahead!
Don't ask how I know this, but the Shari Lewis program Lamb Chop's Play-Along used to end with a song called The Song That Never Ends
[although her version, as you will hear, was "the song that doesn't
end"], written (though not copyrighted) by Norman Martin. I once used it
in a homily to illustrate how the Christian faith was handed down -- much to the entertainment of the children present at Mass -- and it may serve
to illustrate other sorts of good news as well.
So here, for your reading and listening pleasure, is the first part ...
This is the song that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friend. Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever just because... Well, you get the idea.
Shari Lewis died while undergoing treatment for uterine cancer in 1998 at the age of 65. Her own song doesn't end.
