Thursday rest

I know the seventh day is the day on which the Creator rested, according to Genesis 2:2-3:
On the seventh day God completed the work he had been doing; God rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all the work he had done in creation.

But today feels like the day of rest in many ways. We had a busy, long weekend, with Helen's visit and her help getting things sorted and packed. Then Tom had a laparoscopic procedure on Monday to repair a hernia. That went well, but minor and persistent complications afterwards meant a trip to the emergency room Monday evening, a number of telephone consultations on Tuesday morning and a visit to our local clinic in the afternoon, and finally a visit to his primary care doctor midday yesterday. All is well now, but he had several days and nights of discomfort and frustration.

But we have survived it all! He has a follow-up appointment with the surgeon on Monday, and it will be a few weeks before he will be able to lift heavier loads and twist and turn. But he is walking around, tending to manageable tasks and plotting steps along the way to our move to Madison.

The potential house buyer had been out of state, but now is getting paperwork together to show the bank. Tom and I have discussed backup plans should that sale not work out as we hope.  Yesterday someone else asked me if the house was on the market yet, because her son and his wife are house hunting. There is always another way ...

Meanwhile, I was able to get in visits to the gym on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Today I chose just to take a long walk, and I also got work done on Wacky in WhoVille

Even so, after the medical stuff of the last three days, today feels like a Sabbath rest!

Your life seems like quite the roller coaster. Glad to hear Tom is feeling better now.
Take a day (or two or three) of rest. You deserve it!!!
Wishing you peace and healing (for Tom)
