But where is it? It looks in need of renovation!

This is an old Discalced Carmelite monastery/desert in Tenancingo, in the State of Mexico. The view of the Valley of Mexico from there is breath-taking. One summer in the mid-1970s when I was studying at the Instituto Cultural Tenochtitlán in Mexico City and living with the friars at the Sabatina, I attended a solemn profession ceremony in the chapel. At the time, it was the novitiate for the Mexican Province.

Thanks for the identification. I looked at the Wikipedia entry for Tenancingo and the entry says that the monastery is the main attraction in the town. W. F.

this looks serene yet mysterious to know what good/bad may be going on inside.
