The cat door

Cassidy is in that phase of cat behavior in which nothing matters to her more than seeing what is behind any closed door. The door out into the hallway from the apartment is the main attraction/irritant, of course. But she has to check out every closet, no matter how frequently she has been in them before. And the folding doors into the laundry roomette have a special attraction.

I always thought the perfect cat toy would not be a catnip mouse but a door that a cat could open, go through and then turn around and come back through, repeating this endlessly until growing dizzy.

This cat has learned at least part of the trick.

I don't worry about Cassidy doing this. Although our doors do have those easy handles, she could never leap that high.

Cats seem to be always on the wrong side of every door.

Our cat Dudo has the same thing with closed doors. I've finally cured him of his insistence that I leave the sliding doors to the closet in my office open for him, or that I open them whenever he demands.

We had a cat in Miami that was able to reach the [round] front door handle and almost, almost was able to turn it so he could go outside.

i worried that if he made it we'd have to get him his own key so he could come back in.
